UPTET paper leak: Nine held in Jaunpur, five in Ghazipur

In connection with the UPTET paper leak, five persons including centre in-charge of an inter college were arrested in Ghazipur, while nine solvers were arrested in Jaunpur on Wednesday.

VARANASI: In connection with the UPTET paper leak, five persons including centre in-charge of an inter college were arrested in Ghazipur, while nine solvers were arrested in Jaunpur on Wednesday.
According to reports, on a tip-off, the STF personnel nabbed five persons of the gang engaged in solving TET papers with the help of solvers in Ghazipur.
Those arrested in Ghazipur include Paras Singh Kushwaha, the principal of Buddham Sharnam Inter College, Chandrapal Kushwaha, Chandrahas Kushwaha, Ajit Kushwaha and the clerk Siyaram Singh Yadav.

25 copies of question papers of set C and D each, six mobile phones and Rs 4,980 cash were recovered. They were booked under Sections 419, 420, 120 B of IPC and 67 of IT Act.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they ran a gang led by Paras to solve the question papers and collected money from the candidates of competitive exams. For TET exam papers, they had collected Rs 1.5 lakh each from 50 candidates. They leaked the question papers before the beginning of the examination to Chandrahas through the mobile phone of Ajit. Solvers seated at the nearby Glorious Public School managed by Paras, solved and gave the printed solved papers to the candidates at the examination centre.

Chandrahas, Ajit and Chandrabhan are employed at different power sub-stations in Ghazipur district. Similar cases were lodged against Paras during the UP Polytechnic entrance test (2016-17).
In Jaunpur, nine ‘Munna Bhais’ were arrested from different centres in Shahganj and Khetasarai. Jaunpur SP (City) Anil Kumar Pandey said the arrested persons belonged to Bihar and had charged Rs one lakh per candidate for solving the papers.
In Varanasi, the exam was conducted peacefully at 67 centres and no such incident was recorded. Varanasi DM Kaushal Raj Sharma along with SSP Prabhakar Chowdhary carried out surprise inspection at many centres.
