3 Muzaffarpur jail wardens axed for ‘dereliction of duty’
MUZAFFARPUR: Superintendent of Shahid Khudi Ram Bose Central Jail, Muzaffarpur, Rajiv Kumar Singh on Thursday suspended three jail employees, including the chief warden for dereliction of duty.
Two of the three suspended employees have been directed to join the Darbhanga divisional jail, while one has been asked to go to Samastipur divisional jail during their suspension period.

Singh said that all the three jail employees were earlier issued show-cause notices after recovery of some objectionable items during a raid carried out by Muzaffarpur district magistrate Alok Ranjan Ghosh and senior superintendent of police Jayant Kant on Sunday.
“The three jail employees were asked to submit their reply in 48 hours but they failed to comply with the order. Their responses, submitted even after stipulated time, were not found satisfactory. Hence they have been put under suspension with immediate effect from Thursday. I have also recommended senior officials at the prison headquarters in Patna for initiating departmental proceedings against them,” the superintendent said.
He added that the chief head warden of the prison, Ramesh Kumar Singh, was asked to report to the Samastipur division jail till his suspension period. “The head warden, Vidyapati Singh, and warden Droni Prakash have been sent to the Darbhanga jail till further decision on their suspension,” the superintendent said.
Notably, a joint raid was carried out in the central jail on Sunday after the killing of an undertrial prisoner Mukesh Kumar aka Mukesh Telia in Hajipur district jail on January 5. The raiding team recovered knives, cash, mobile phones, chargers, and narcotics from the wards.
