CM Nitish Kumar inaugurates slew of projects in Munger, Jamui

Chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar on Friday asked officials of Munger district administration to take necessary steps for beautification of Kharagpur lake. He said a team of experts should be sent to Kharagpur to prepare a work plan so that the lake could be developed as a new destination for eco-tourists.

PATNA: Chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar on Friday asked officials of Munger district administration to take necessary steps for beautification of Kharagpur lake. He said a team of experts should be sent to Kharagpur to prepare a work plan so that the lake could be developed as a new destination for eco-tourists.
Presiding over a division-level review meeting as part of the government’s ‘Jal Jivan Hariyali’ campaign at Munger museum hall, the CM asked the officials to use the lake water to provide drinking water to people in nearby areas.

“The renovation and beautification of Kharagpur lake will not only improve environment in surrounding areas, but also benefit the next generation. The lake renovation work should be done under the Jal Jivan Hariyali scheme,” he said.
Senior officials of all six districts of Munger division – Munger, Begusarai, Khagaria, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Jamui – attended the meeting which was organised on the last day of the CM’s seventh phase of Jal Jivan Hariyali Yatra.
Nitish further asked the officials of all six districts to expedite the ongoing work under the ‘Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal (tap water to each household)’ scheme of the state government in each village under their respective jurisdictions.
He asked the district magistrates (DMs) to visit public grievance redressal centres on a regular basis and ensure that petitions filed under the Bihar Public Grievances Redressal Act are properly disposed of.

The CM asked the DMs to take necessary action against all those grievance redressal officers who remain absent from their workplaces or do not take interest in redressal of public grievances. The CM also stressed the need for speedy disposal of applications under the Mukhya Mantri Old Age Pension scheme.
Prominent among those who attended the review meeting were deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, rural development minister Shravan Kumar, rural works minister Shailesh Kumar, labour resources minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, water resources minister Sanjay Kumar Jha, information and public relations minister Neeraj Kumar, Munger MP Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, chief secretary Deepak Kumar, DGP Gupteshwar Pandey and divisional commissioner (Munger) Vandana Kinni.
The CM, accompanied by ministers and several officials, also visited Bhimbandh Eco-tourism Centre at Bhimbandh village under Kharagpur block in Munger district and inaugurated several public utilities there. He asked the officials to improve facility of public transport at Bhimbandh for the convenience of tourists.
Earlier in the day, the CM visited Ratanpur gram panchayat under Gidhaur block of Jamui district and inaugurated several development projects.
