LUCKNOW: Union ministry of civil aviation has sacked Amethi-based Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University (RGNAU) registrar Jitendra Singh with immediate effect. Singh has been replaced by Garima Singh, who holds the director’s position in the civil aviation ministry.
The order (a copy of which is with TOI), issued on Wednesday by under-secretary of the ministry Kameshwar Mishra, stated: “Order of the competent authority is hereby conveyed for the termination of probation of Jitendra Singh, registrar, RGNAU, with immediate effect.
Singh, accordingly, stands removed and relieved from the position of the registrar with immediate effect.”
The order added that Singh was directed to vacate the office immediately and his official residence within seven days. Singh, the first registrar of RGNAU, was appointed by the President in April last year. The university, the first of its kind, commenced its academic session in August last year.
As per the order, Garima has been appointed as acting registrar till further notice. She would be serving in RGNAU in addition to her existing duties and responsibilities in the ministry, read the order.
According to reports, RGNAU acting vice-chancellor Amber Dubey, who is also a joint secretary in the ministry, entered the campus along with police personnel and Garima on Thursday and asked Singh to immediately vacate the office.
Circle Officer Tiloi Raj Kumar Singh told TOI that he had orders from his seniors to accompany Dubey. “It was the university’s internal matter. We were asked to accompany them to ensure law and order on campus,” he said.

When TOI contacted Singh, he said, “My termination is illegal and unconstitutional as no notice was served and no grounds were given.”
Singh alleged that several irregularities had been prevailing on the campus but Dubey was not paying heed to them.
Dubey had taken charge after the university’s former VC Nalin Tandon tendered his resignation on November 1 last year.
