Maharashtra: Five dead in explosion at chemical factory in Palghar

As per sources, the blast is said to be of high-intensity, resulting in heavy damage to the building.

At least five people were killed and six injured in a massive explosion at a chemical factory in Maharashtra’s Palghar district on Saturday evening. The explosion occurred in a factory called Tara Nitra in the Boisar industrial area.

The plant was owned by Nathubhai Patel, who bought it two years ago. He along with 11 others were conducting an experiment when the pressure in the boiler increased that caused an explosion.

According to news agency PTI, the explosion took place around 7.20 pm, was so huge that it was heard within a 15-km radius, and windowpanes of some houses in the surrounding area shattered.

A fire started after the blast but it was put down. Rescue operation still underway.
