Nollywood has had its fair share of controversies, especially when it has to do with two entertainers squabbling over a deal gone wrong.

This time, the ‘battle’ is between filmmaker, Goriola Hassan, and a music artiste, Christopher Daniel, aka Kriss Rose. According to the artiste, Hassan cheated him on some deals. In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Kriss Rose narrated his part of the story. He said, “I was approached by Goriola Hassan, aka Schoolboy, to act a scene in the movie he was shooting at the time, Jagun. I said I would do it on the condition that I’d produce the soundtrack of the movie and own the master (tape), since he’s not paying me. It was a sort of ‘favour’ deal. However, just as the film was to be released, Hassan blocked me from all contact on social media.

“I kept my cool since he is like a brother I’ve known from way back and I respect him. Sometime later, a mutual friend of ours, Lati, called to inform me of a big club opening party that he would love me to perform at. I accepted the deal and we negotiated my fee but he said he had to confirm from Goriola, who was his partner on the project. He put Hassan on speaker and I could hear him talk down on me.

“However, I still accepted the deal because I needed the footage of that show even more than the money. My picture was put on flyers and everything seemed okay. On the night of the event, there were three DJs and Schoolboy told them all not to allow me perform at the show. The three DJs kept giving me excuses and they even featured an artiste that was not on the flyer. I left the show without performing that night. I have been asking him to give me the recording 0f the song I produced for his movie, so that everyone would go their ways.”

However, Hassan has denied all the allegations made against him by Kriss Rose, saying the artiste was just seeking attention. He stated, “I don’t know why people are taking that boy’s words seriously. He is just looking for attention. I don’t know him but he knows me. He said he knew me when he was selling clothes in Surulere.

“When I met Kriss Rose, he told me he was a music artiste and I told him I had never heard his songs. On the day I met him, I was going to a film location to record the soundtrack for my movie and he said he would follow me there. He begged to ‘lend’ his voice to the soundtrack. When we got to the location, he added his voice to the soundtrack and acted in one scene of the movie. I initially didn’t want to allow him do that but I thought I should encourage him because of his predicament.

“I don’t have any written agreement with him. We are not even mates, so I’m surprised by his actions. I don’t know what he is talking about. At a point, he told some guys in Surulere that he would beat me if I step foot in that environ.”
