The South Wales derby between Cardiff City and Swansea City ended 0-0.

You can read the full report here.

Both teams hit the woodwork during the game - Bersant Celina's effort struck the post in the first period before Bluebirds substitute Callum Patterson hit the bar with a header in the second half.

In a turgid game, both teams will probably be happy with a point - although both managers admitted they would have naturally liked more from the feisty encounter.

After the managers spoke to the press, Cardiff skipper Sean Morrison gave his take on the match, and offered an interesting assessment of Swansea's new loan signing Rhian Brewster.

Catch up with everything that was said below.

That's it

All done.

QPR?

I apologised. It wasn’t good enough. During the week, we just had to look at it and learn from it.

Carlisle

Personally, it’s huge. I’ve not had a cup run since I’ve been here. We’ve not been past the fourth round and it’s nice to get a cup run. You get the chance to play against bigger teams and if you turn up in that 90 minutes you can get through to the next round. It’s going to be a difficult game. It’s going to be cold and they’ll want to cause an upset. They’ll be right at it.

Grass

I don’t think it was an issue. I think the way we set up and put pressure on them was in our game plan and definitely in the first half it worked.

Morrison

Unsettled with backline changes?

Not personally. I think that’s only my second game since the away fixture. I broke my wrist and my arm in that fixture. To come back into the Leeds game and get sent off. To have Christmas off was nice! But when you’ve got a talented squad of players, it motivates you to be better and to train harder.

Physical on him?

It wasn’t a message from the gaffer for me to just clatter a young lad on his debut. I approach every game the same, I want to try and make it as difficult as possible for them. I want to win my battles

Brewster?

He’s a young lad. He only signed this week. He’s very talented. I was watching his clips today and he looks like a top player from a top team, but the Championship is a different kettle of fish from the Premier League and Under-23s football. I think you could see flashes of his class and movement. I think Swansea have got a good player on their hands

Evolution in style?

The gaffer’s worked hard with us. We’ve bought into his philosophies. Since he’s come in there’s not been a massive period where we’ve had time to set a whole week ahead on the training pitch, so this week has been fantastic. A lot of work has gone into today. If we can keep building, we’re nowhere near the finished product, and we need to keep working as a team and to try and get the best out of each other. There’s still an opportunity for us to get into the play-offs

Morrison

Record?

From the outside it definitely put pressure on us. We didn’t want to go down in history as the team to lose both derbies. It’s just disappointing that we lacked a bit of cutting edge up front. I had a couple of opportunities I just couldn’t get on the end of.

Morrison here

We wanted to win the game today. We knew how much the away game hurt them, not only losing but the performance wasn’t good enough.

I thought the boys did fantastic. It could have gone either way. I’m happy we haven’t lost but disappointed we didn’t win

No double still, fans happy with derby return?

They seemed happy at the end. They can see the players trying and wanting to win. I probably sound a little frustrated, and I am, but not with the team or players, but just the way it ended up, the quality etc. The game was on tele and stuff

Cooper

More likely to make play-offs than Cardiff?

I’m not sure about that. I lose track of points and all that. We are just focused on ourselves. We take it game by game, we play to improve and in the end I think we will end up where our progression and performances take us. We are over half way now and our ideas won’t change. We want to win every game away. Another point on the road

Cooper

  • Share

Get at Cardiff?

We knew we could. We knew they’d leave spaces in the middle of the park and that’s why we are frustrated. This is the only way we want to play and we picked a team we thought could win today. We thought it was only going to go one way second half, that’s why we are frustrated.

Cooper

Marc Guehi?

It wasn’t too late. We pick teams and a game plan that can be carried out best. He can play right across the back four and I’m sure he’ll get good minutes for us.

Cooper

Young players, Wilmot and Cabango?

A lot was said before the game about playing two young players at centre-back in a game like this. That’s the only way young players get better. We promote our own and they should be proud of the way they played. It was a tough one for them but I didn’t worry about them. They are competitive and athletic

Cooper

  • Share

Disappointed with it?

It is what it is. There’s not one way to play the game, you just have to get on with it. We’ve got some young players in the team who we don’t want to make any excuses for in any day of work. Whether it’s the performance or intent. Schedules and that sort of stuff. We aren’t going to complain about any of that.

Cooper

Why was grass kept long?

Not for me to answer. Christmas period, days off maybe? We were glad when it rained at half-time and quickened it up a little bit. We got caught with short passing a couple of times, I just thought it affected the game.

Cooper

  • Share

Full 90?

It’s not like us to not make any changes. If we were going to change it was going to be a positive one that’s’ for sure. We just felt we would get that one moment with the boys we had on the pitch. It’s unlike us not to make changes in any game. Lots of positives from the game, two young centre backs, clean sheet, a mentality of wanting to win. At the same time we have to respect the occasion and magnitude of the game

Cooper

  • Share

He’ll learn?

I don’t worry about that. I know the player, I know his mentality and attitude. He will catch the eye for what he does in terms of getting towards the goal. He works so hard and presses really well. He likes a battle. I know he can handle this league no problem.

Cooper

Brewster?

It’s a difficult game for him but we showed glimpses of athleticism and mentality. Started with a yellow card. He will do just as much work off the ball and it was a good experience for him. I thought he did a good job for the team. We would like to have created more chances for him.

Make of that?

We are frustrated because we came here to win, picked a team and game plan to win. There was no conversation about drawing, just wanted to win. First half we played some decent stuff on a tough pitch, the grass was long. That’s fine, that’s their prerogative.

Stop-start game, a lot of aerial balls. It’s a better point for them than us, that’s for sure.

Smithies

Alex wants to play. He’s a super professional and a goalkeeper I rate highly. Alex was the best option today. It’s a wonderful position for me to be in.

Harris

Etheridge?

I won’t go into too much detail at the moment. There’s been a lot of talk around Neil, not just in this window but in the previous one as well. I had a really good conversation with Neil in the week about his standards and where he wants to get to. He wants to be settled and play football. To do that sometimes you need to be at your best. I made the decision to leave him out. He understands. Alex and Joe Day want to play as well. It’s nice to have three goalkeepers that are talented, We’ll see what unfolds during the window.

Carlisle selection?

We’ve got three games in six days. We saw with someone like Paterson today who took his opportunity against Carlisle. There will be an opportunity for people to impress. People who need minutes will come back into the team. Like the first game, I want to win. I want to get through to the next round and I want to make sure we win games in the league as well.

Harris

Did enough to win?

Over the course of the 90 I think we were the better team. I don’t think there was a great deal in it. We had some good quality at times. We’ll take the point and look forward to the cup game at Carlisle.

Harris

Emotions?

I have to be honest, after losing the first game we certainly didn’t want to lose back-to-back derbies. I’m pleased with the clean sheet. Then I look at our performance, did we handle the occasion? I think we did. Were there sustained moments? I think it’s very difficult in derbies and I thought we did that well. When you’ve got people like Tomlin, Hoilett and Murphy, they can give you those moments.

Harris

Need a striker?

You always want options. We’ve found ways today with some really good football. We can go direct as well with Pato at the end. It’s just in that final third, I’d like to see us create more opportunities. Sometimes it happens with personal as well. If we can add support it will help.

Harris

Disappointed by Cook comments?

I’ve got no issue with that. He’s talking about his own player. I just keep things to myself really.

Every player in my squad has got a valuation.

Harris

  • Share

Kieffer Moore?

He’s not my player to talk about. We’ve enquired about quite a lot of players over the last 7 to 10 days. I’m really pleased with the group of players I’ve got here. If we can add to that it’ll be really good support for the group. Our lines of enquiry will carry on. But I’ll try and keep that out of the public eye
