The state’s first construction and demolition (C&D) waste management plant is finally functional. The recycling plant in Noida’s Sector 80 is ready after being in the pipeline for over two years.

While the main machinery is yet to be imported, a portable machine is currently being used to process around 150 tonnes of C&D waste per day, according to the officials. The company running the plant is expected to process 300 tonnes of C&D waste every day by the end of January.

“The machine is currently running at half the capacity that was agreed upon in the contract. This is because the main apparatus is still to be imported and we are currently using a portable machine. The final equipment is also expected to be installed by January-end and we will be able to run at full capacity,” said Avinash Tripathy, officer on special duty, Noida Authority.

He added, so far, around 1,000 tonnes of C&D waste has been recycled, processed and screened into gravel of different sizes that can be used in construction of roads and footpath.

The Authority has also released a helpline (0120-2970004) for complaints and collection of C&D waste from across Noida.
