NEW DELHI: Jawaharlal Nehru University student Yashaswini Sehrawat, who secured 8th rank in the Indian Economic Service (IES) Examination 2019, met the university vice-chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar in his office on Monday. Out of the 32 candidates who qualified in the exam, 18 belong to JNU.
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the results of IES exams and it was found that several who cleared the exam were from JNU.
The IES only has 32 seats at the All India level.
JNU has been in news for the violence that erupted in the campus last Sunday. Sehrawat, speaking to ANI, said, "We are very happy. 18 JNU students cleared the exam this year. I feel proud to have been a part of JNU and achieved this. It hurts when something bad is said about the university, but we should take it as a challenge to show that there's a good side to it too."
