CBSE launches creative thinking weekly programme

Chandigarh: To enhance critical and creative thinking and generate curiosity among students by connecting learning with real-life situations, the CBSE has launched 'Creative and Critical Thinking (CCT) Weekly Practice Programme' in all CBSE schools.
A circular in this regard was received by Tricity schools on Monday.
Joseph Emmanuel, director academics, said the CBSE CCT practice aimed at empowering teachers to ask questions connected to real-life situation and build curiosity among students, facilitate discussions to build collaboration and problem-solving skills and to engage parents and community at large in the students' learning process.
Through this programme, the CBSE will share a set of five questions every week (5 QAW) for teachers as well as students. These questions will not necessarily be related to syllabus. However, they will be connected to the overall learning of students of Classes VII to X.
These questions can also be used by teachers to engage students, give them for homework, activities during the no bag day, zero period, activity hour or in any other way the teacher chooses to use.
"Teachers can use these questions at the beginning of a class to make students curious about the topic that will be taught in the class or has already been taught. Students can be asked to attempt these questions for homework in consultation with their friends and family. Answers can be discussed the next day or at the end of the week as per the convenience of teachers in a way that it promotes discussion," said Joseph.
The CBSE has shared a soft copy of QR-coded poster with schools along with the circular. These will be required to be printed and put up in classrooms of Classes VII to X. New questions for the week will be made available every Monday and solutions on Thursday via the same QR code.
The questions and answers can be accessed by teachers, students and parents by using a smartphone or a desktop.
"The Board has launched this programme to enhance the 21st Century skills among learners and hopes for enthusiastic participation of students, teachers and schools," added Joseph.
