“Chhapaak” succeeds to serve its purpose, says Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar after Uttarakhand announces pension for acid attack survivors

Starring Deepika Padukone, “Chhapaak”, the movie based on the life of Laxmi Agarwal, an acid attack survivor is gaining much attention in the society, following which Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar is on cloud nine with her latest directorial as she says the movie has been successful in serving its “purpose”.

The statement comes after Uttarakhand government announced pension for acid attack survivors in the state after the release of the film. The State Women and Child Welfare Minister, Rekha Arya announced the scheme under which the survivors will be provided with a pension of Rs. 5,000-6,000 every month to let them live a life with dignity.

“We will be bringing the proposal in the cabinet to get it approved to further implement the scheme. The idea is to support the brave women in achieving their dreams,” the Minister said.
