A former fashion designer for Cara Delevingne and ex-model stole over £230,000 from her grandmother battling dementia to fund a lavish lifestyle.

Emily Evans-Schreiber, 38, from Naseby, Northamptonshire was caught out after her own mother became suspicious of her designer clothes, international trips, beauty treatments and five-star hotels.

Northampton Crown Court heard how she made 42 transactions totalling £230,251 between April and December 2018.

Evans-Schreiber pleaded guilty to theft and was given a suspended prison sentence of two-years, along with 150 hours of unpaid work and an alcohol treatment programme.

The mum-of-one only had £40 in her bank account when she was asked to help care for her 94-year-old grandmother Rosina Evans who was terminally ill with dementia.

Evans-Schreiber was put in charge of her grandmother's finances after her family became concerned about her lifestyle in London and tasked her with caring for her grandma in April 2018.

Eight months later, her mother, Clare, called the bank and police concerned over how her jobless daughter was able to fund her jet set lifestyle.

By this point, only £7,000 remained in her grandmother's account.

When police raided Evans-Schreiber's house they found designer clothing, shoes, handbags and sunglasses.

The bank statements for her grandmother's account to Evans-Schreiber's were labelled as "bills", "care" and "savings".

Her grandmother - who has now passed away - never knew of the theft.

The former model - who worked for  Cara Delevigne and her sister Poppy in 2016 - also handed over around £25,000 to the father of her now eight-year-old daughter, Sam Oguche.

The defense argued that Evans-Schreiber left enough cash to pay for her grandmother's medical costs and did consider her needs.

Carolina Guiloff told the court: "She's had 37 years of a blame-free life. She was out of control and wasn't in her normal mental state.

"It would be wrong for your honour to be left with the impression that this was a cold and callous woman who had no regard for her grandmother at all.

Judge Rebecca Crane said the case presented a "very difficult" decision as Evans-Schreiber was the sole carer of her young daughter.

But in sentencing she urged Evans-Schreiber: "Do not come to this court asking for a second chance. That is what you have been given with this sentence."
