Maharashtra: Twins found abandoned near Pashan lake

PUNE: A day-old twins, a boy and a girl, were found abandoned near Pashan lake on Tuesday morning.
Police have admitted them to the Sassoon General Hospital and said that both the newborns were in a healthy condition.
Senior police inspector Anil Shewale of the Chatushrungi police told TOI, “Some morning walkers from Pashan and Bavdhan heard cries of the babies and rushed to the spot along the eastern banks of the lake.”
He said, “They found both the babies wrapped in blankets.We believe the infants were born in a good family but for some reasons were abandoned.”
The persons on the morning walk called up the police and also fed them milk. “There were no stray dogs in the area at that time. The residents guarded them at the spot until the police reached,” Shewale said.
The twins were taken to the child welfare committee, following which they were admitted to the hospital.
“We have registered a case against unidentified man or woman for abandoning the children,” he said.
