SECUNDERABAD: Following the Cyberabad model, the Rachakonda traffic police is all set to commence the traffic volunteering scheme in its limits, in order to improve traffic conditions at key junctions.
The decision to start the traffic volunteering scheme was taken following a meeting held between Secunderabad residents and Rachakonda traffic police recently.
Police to train volunteers to help ease traffic woes

“There are many areas in Rachakonda limits where vehicular movement is heavy, especially during evening hours.
We decided to collaborate with traffic police to tackle the issue,” said Malcom Wolfe, an activist for pedestrian rights.
As part of the scheme, volunteers of the age of 18 years and above will be engaged to manage traffic at various junctions. They will be trained by traffic police and will be equipped with reflective jackets, caps and whistles. The scheme will be implemented on par with the Cyberabad traffic police scheme where over 300 techies are traffic volunteers.
In Rachakonda limits, traffic police has identified many areas including ECIL junction, Neredmet X roads, LB Nagar, Uppal, Nagole among others where volunteers will be deployed.

“We will be engaging more than 100 traffic volunteers from different areas over the next few months. They will be trained on basic rules and techniques on traffic diversions,” said Mohammed Tajauddin Ahmed, additional deputy commissioner of police, Rachakonda traffic police. All selected volunteers will undergo mandatory orientation and basic life support training .
The volunteers will also be empowered to capture violations to raise e-challans.
