NEW DELHI: The family members of a sales manager with a paint company, who was shot dead near his apartment in Rohini on January 6, have launched a Facebook campaign asking eyewitnesses to contact them with the clues.
Anil Kumar Duhan, who stayed at an apartment in Rohini with his wife and two daughters, was on his way back home around 8.30pm when the incident took place. He got off at Badli metro station and was walking to his apartment when the killers are suspected to have waylaid him.
When he did not return home, the family had started enquiring about him in the locality. Later that night, they received a call from a hospital informing them about Anil’s death.
The autopsy revealed that apart from a gunshot wound, Duhan did not have any indication of a scuffle on his body. “There was a single bullet wound on his temple that was fired from a close range. Someone had noticed him lying on the footpath and informed police about it,” said his brother Sunil.
Police failed to find any eyewitness or a CCTV footage during their probe.
“It is unlikely that my brother would have been murdered due to an enmity,” said Sunil.
Family members say that a day before the incident he had returned with his family to Delhi. “He was on leave for 15 days and was travelling to Chandigarh and Rohtak. If anyone was tracking him, they would not have been aware of his whereabouts,” said a family member.
The family members have urged eyewitnesses to come up with any clue that could help the cops crack the murder mystery.
Meanwhile, cops have detained a few local criminals from the Shahbad Dairy and Samaipur Badli areas. Anil’s mobile phone location is being tracked to get some clues. “We are probing into all possible leads to solve the case. Footage from the CCTV cameras along the road are being scanned,” said a police officer.
