ARA: An 18-year-old youth, Ankit Kumar Singh, was shot dead with a carbine at a village in Bhojpur district after the latter refused to pay the assailant Rs 1,200 for allegedly damaging his motorbike.
Furious over the killing of the youth, villagers caught hold of the assailant, 30-year-old Dharmendra Pal, a resident of the same village, and thrashed him. The accused was admitted to the Sadar hospital with serious injuries from where he was referred to the PMCH in Patna, police said.

Bhojpur SP Sushil Kumar said the carbine and an empty cartridge have been seized from the spot and a probe has been ordered to see if it was procured legally.
“Dharmendra was demanding compensation of Rs 1,200 from Ankit for damaging his bike during the village Makar Sankranti fair on Tuesday. We had assured him that he will be paid. But he arrived again on Wednesday morning and started asking for the money immediately and shot Ankit,” said a family member of the victim.
“Ankit was rushed to a local hospital at Tarari where doctors declared him brought dead,” the SP said.
