One-stop service centre in Bhagalpur by March 31
BHAGALPUR: With an aim to facilitate all necessary services apart from normal postal and banking services to common people in Bhagalpur and Banka districts, the department of post has decided to introduce one-stop ‘Common Services Centre’ (CSC) at its head post offices in Bhagalpur division as part of its makeover plan.
Officials said the motive is to provide services, including application for issuing documents related to residence, caste, old age pension, widow pension among others, apart from routine works such as delivering letters, mails, accepting deposits under small savings schemes, providing life insurance cover under Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI).

Arvind Kumar Singh, postal superintendent of Bhagalpur division, said the one-stop CSC would start functioning by March 31. “People in rural areas at times feel harassed, while running from office to office to seek various certificates and avail services. Our endeavour is to provide various possible services under one roof to the customers,” he said.
Singh said the postal officers and staff would be trained to understand the procedures and work assigned to CSC. “A nodal officer in the rank of associate postal director will be made overall incharge of the CSC, whereas master trainer will look after the working of the CSC,” he said.
He said the CSC would not only cater to customers but also unburden government departments from the additional works. “The post offices have already started banking services, besides providing ATMs, credit and debit card facilities,” he said.
