LUCKNOW: In a major policy shift, Lucknow University has decided to use a special software to set question papers for examinations from next academic session, altering the process being followed for past several decades.
The decision has been taken in the wake of LLB (semester III) question paper leak which caused huge embarrassment to the university in its centenary year.

LU spokesman Prof Durgesh Srivastava said, “Teachers of various state universities and colleges will be requested to draft questions for a ‘question bank’ which will be fed in the software. It will then generate question papers as per requirement.”
Till now, LU teachers used to set question papers of their respective faculties. A moderation committee, also coprising teachers, used to check whether questions are from the syllabus or not.
“Under the new system, no one will be aware of questions which will be included in examination paper,” he added.
LLB paper leak scandal came to the fore on December 11 when audio clips, in which two law faculty are heard dictating questions to a women student, went viral.
The incident was probed by STF which, in its report submitted to the government, said more than half the questions dictated by teachers matched with the original paper. Similarly, the committee formed by LU concluded that 40% questions matched with original paper. The committee also recommended that LU administration should involve teachers of other universities and colleges to set the papers.
