CISF to take over the security of Jammu and Kashmir

In the wake of the arrest of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) airport security, Davinder Singh for his attempts to assist terrorists to travel to various parts of the country, the security of the two airports of Jammu and Srinagar is to be handed over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Currently, the security of the region is being held by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police. Based on the inspection conducted by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the government at the Centre and the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security Office (BCAS), it is necessary to initiate the process of handing over the security to CISF, said the Jammu and Kashmir government.

While CRPF and J&K Police would be handling the outer security, the internal security will be handled by the CISF. The move is likely to be implemented by the end of January.
