Shaheen nominates 7 from Seacoast for US service academies

WASHINGTON — Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H., announced her nominations for 31 New Hampshire students for acceptance to U.S. service academies, including seven from the Seacoast. The nominees will next be considered by the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Military Academy at West Point for appointment to the Class of 2024.

“Each year, I am impressed by the patriotism shown by extraordinary young Granite Staters in their willingness to serve our nation in the military, and this class is no exception,” Shaheen said. “I applaud these students for all they have achieved and am honored to nominate them to continue their education – and service – at our U.S. service academies.”

The Seacoast students nominated by Shaheen are:

William Appel of Seabrook, Air Force Academy

Riley Deans of Greenland, Air Force Academy

Chad Teresky of Dover, Air Force Academy

Chandler Lugo of Rye, Military Academy at West Point

Luke Tyner of Exeter, Merchant Marine Academy and Naval Academy

Victor Waddell of Epping, Naval Academy

John Obrey of Barrington, Military Academy at West Point and Merchant Marine Academy.
