No. 24 Eastern Florida State Ready For Key Conference Matchup With No.14 Florida Southwestern

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball team hosts Florida Southwestern State College in an early battle for first place in the Suncoast Conference.

The No. 24-ranked Titans come into the matchup with No. 14 Florida Southwestern on a four-game win streak and are 16-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference. Jacquelyn Levay leads Region 8 in 3-point field goal percentage, shooting 49.4 percent and hit six 3-pointers in the Titans win over Hillsborough Community College on Wednesday night.

Florida Southwestern has also won four straight coming into the contest and are 16-5 overall and are also 2-0 in the conference. The Bucs are led by Za’Nautica Downs who is averaging 17.9 points per game and was the Region 8 Player of the Week last week.

“We are extremely stoked about the opportunity to host FSW Saturday to wrap up the first round of conference games,” Eastern Florida State College women’s basketball coach MJ Baker said. “Our games against FSW have always been exciting and a battle for who is the better team on that day. Right now we are focusing on us and how we can get better in practice to put ourselves in the best position for success on Saturday.”

Florida Southwestern leads the series 6-2 and won all three meetings last season.

The Suncoast Conference matchup will tip off at 2 p.m. at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. Admission is free and you can watch the game live on the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
