MUZAFFARPUR: Three persons were arrested from different locations on Thursday evening in connection with the double murder committed in the town on January 7.
Unidentified criminals had bludgeoned Ajay Kumar Sharma, a retired assistant IG of land registration in state prohibition, excise and registration department and his wife Renu Kumari Sharma at their residence at Gyanlok Colony under Brahmapura police station area.

Muzaffarpur SSP Jayant Kant told reporters on Friday that the investigating team would soon reveal the motive behind the crime. “The probe is still on. We can arrest some more men involved in the gruesome killing,” he said.
the SSP said one of the accused, Nitesh Kumar, was arrested first. “Later, Md Sohail and Rakesh Kumar were arrested on revelations made by Nitesh during interrogation,” he said.
Authoritative sources said their involvement in real estate business was the reason behind the couple’s murder. “Sharma was constructing an apartment in Bhagwanpur locality under Sadar police station. Some miscreants had demanded extortion for allowing the construction work, but Sharma refused to pay any money. Meanwhile, a white-collar real estate muscleman tried to mediate, but in vein. And finally, the goons killed the duo,” he said.
