Bihar: Vehicles not allowed on Bhagalpur roads on January 19

Vehicular traffic will be restricted in Bhagalpur and five neighbouring districts, including Banka, Munger, Katihar, Khagaria and Madhepura, between 9.30am to 2.30pm on January 19 for the human chain event organized by the state government to create awareness about Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali mission, liquor prohibition and against dowry and child marriage.

BHAGALPUR: Vehicular traffic will be restricted in Bhagalpur and five neighbouring districts, including Banka, Munger, Katihar, Khagaria and Madhepura, between 9.30am to 2.30pm on January 19 for the human chain event organized by the state government to create awareness about Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali mission, liquor prohibition and against dowry and child marriage.

The district administration has asked the block officials and SHOs of different police stations to check entry of heavy vehicles from the neighbouring states and districts into Bhagalpur areas. Instructions have also been issued to the officials not to allow human chain formation on or alongside the railway tracks.
Sources said more than 350km-long human chain on 26 earmarked roads in the district will be dotted by around 10 lakh people, including schoolchildren, social workers, professionals and commoners.
DM Pranav Kumar told media persons that a huge turnout is expected to form human chain on January 19. The event is aimed at all-round betterment of the human beings through Jal-Jeewan-Hariyali mission, besides welfare of the society through awareness on prohibition laws, social evils like dowry, child marriage etc. “We expect to make a record vis-à-vis largest participation of people in the human chain on January 19,” he said and added that safety and security measures were being taken for the event.
