Astros third baseman and 2019 MVP runner-up Alex Bregman spoke at the team’s fan festival on Saturday, and he was not ready to provide satisfying answers on the fallout from his team’s cheating scandal.

In response to the first question he faced, Bregman said, “The commissioner came out with a report, MLB did their report and the Astros did what they did. They made their decision on what they’re going to do.”

“They made their decision on what to do … I have no thoughts on it,” Bregman said. From there, he answered basically every question with “The commissioner came out with his report,” sometimes sprinkling in a “the Astros did what they did.” Just about the only specific answer he gave was calling allegations of the Astros wearing buzzers or wires “stupid.”

Jose Altuve, who was repeatedly accused of wearing a buzzer or wire on Thursday, was slightly more open. “It’s a tough situation as a team and we have to stay together,” he said Saturday. “I feel bad for them, they’re good guys,” he said about the suspensions and firings of A.J. Hinch and Jeff Luhnow.

Altuve called the buzzer allegations “ridiculous” before saying “I wasn’t upset to be honest. We all know some people made that up. The best thing that happened to me was that MLB investigated that, and they didn’t find something.”
