The death of a man found dead outside a Daytona Beach motel with a stab wound to his abdomen is suspicious and police say they want the public’s help determining what happened.

Jeffrey Schusky, 34, of Ormond Beach, was found lying outside the Happy Holiday Motel at 1617 North Atlantic Avenue around 11:03 p.m. Saturday, said Daytona police spokesman Messod Bendayan.

The manager said he opened his motel room door after he heard persistent knocking and found Schusky bleeding and crawling outside, Bendayan said.

Schusky was a tenant at the motel, police said.

Paramedics found a puncture wound on Schusky’s upper-left abdomen but it’s unclear what caused it or whether it resulted in his death, Bendayan said. An autopsy is planned for Sunday.

A knife was found next to his body, investigators said.

Anyone with information or who may have seen Schusky on Saturday night is asked to call police Detective Jayson Wallace at 386-671-5207 of email him at WallaceJayson@dbpd.us.
