PATNA: Bihar CM Nitish Kumar on Monday announced to install a statue of great patriot Maharana Pratap in the state capital.
Addressing a public meeting organized at the local Miller School ground to remember Maharana Pratap on his death anniversary, the CM said his government would work on the demand of installing a statue of Maharana Pratap in the state capital here.
“We will be doing all the necessary works to honour our illustrious personalities.
We have done several works for development of all sections of the society. We have done development works in all regions of the state and for all strata of the society with our resolve of ‘development with justice.’ Several schemes have been launched to bring the disadvantaged section in the mainstream of the society,” the CM said.
Earlier, JD(U) spokesperson and former MLC Sanjay Singh, in his speech, had demanded installation of a statue of Maharana Pratap in the state capital here.
The CM further called upon people to follow the path shown by the Maharana Pratap of taking all section of society to ensure justice to all people and maintaining peace and togetherness in the society.
Recalling the great valour of the hero of Haldighati, Nitish said Maharana Pratap engaged in long and intermittent fight against the then Mughal regime, but it could be possible because he took people from all sections of the society along with him. Pratap gave due respect to the people from minorities and tribal communities and they supported him in his war against Mughals. Members of Dalit Bhangar community were inducted in his army.
The CM also assured the audience to do what he can do to help the jailed former MP Anand Mohan.
Other prominent leaders who addressed the event and recalled the contributions of Maharana Pratap, were JD(U) state president Bashishtha Narain Singh, Lok Sabha member Rajiv Ranjan Singh, science and technology minister Jai Kumar Singh, building construction minister Ashok Choudhary, water resources minister Sanjay Jha, rural development minister Shravan Kumar, I&PRD minister Neeraj Kumar and former minister Lesie Singh. Yuva JD(U) spokesperson Om Prakash Singh Setu extended vote of thanks.
