Delhi elections: BJP releases second list of candidates; pits Sunil Yadav against Arvind Kejriwal

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's (BJYM) Delhi state president, Sunil Yadav, is BJP's candidate from the prestigious New Delhi seat against chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the upcoming Delhi assembly polls. The BJP released the second list of 10 candidates hours after its talks on seat-sharing with old ally Shiromani Akali Dal failed.

NEW DELHI: Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha's (BJYM) Delhi state president, Sunil Yadav, is BJP's candidate from the prestigious New Delhi seat against chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in the upcoming Delhi assembly polls.
On the other hand, Congress has fielded former NSUI Delhi president Ramesh Sabharwal against the AAP supremo, who won both the 2013 and 2015 polls with huge margins.

The BJP released the second list of 10 candidates hours after its talks on seat sharing with old ally Shiromani Akali Dal failed.
The SAD had then announced that it will stay away from Delhi elections.
The second list of party candidates included four seats which generally went to the Akali Dal.
The BJP has fielded spokesperson Tejinder Pal Bagga from Hari Nagar, while nominating former EDMC deputy mayor Sanjay Goyal from Shahdara.
Dharmavir Singh will contest from Kalkaji seat while Ramesh Khanna has been fielded from Rajouri Garden, the seat Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee president Manjinder Singh Sirsa held in the outgoing assembly.

Other candidates announced by the BJP in second list include Poorvanchali leader Manish Singh from Delhi Cantonment, Sumanlata Shokeen from Nangloi Jat, Ravindra Chaudhary from Kasturba Nagar, Kusum Khatri from Mehrauli and Anil Goyal from Krishna Nagar.
The party has given two seats - Burari and Sangam Vihar - to Janata Dal(U) while the reserved seat of Seemapuri has been given to Loktantrik Janshakti Party as part of the seat sharing arrangement.
The election for 70-member Delhi assembly will take place on February 8 while the votes will be counted on February 11.
