IMPHAL: A woman IPS officer posted in Manipur's Thoubal district has accused an Assam Rifles rifleman of assaulting and molesting her, and lodged a police complaint against him.
The complaint lodged by the IPS officer at Tengnoupal police station says she, along with her escorts in civvies, was returning in her office vehicle from Moreh after an official work on Sunday when they were stopped at the Khudenthabi checkpost by a team of 12 Assam Rifles personnel.
"My escort personnel and I showed them our official identity cards as we were on official duty. But one rifleman stopped us and threatened to detain us till midnight," said the IPS officer.
She added that the rifleman started thrashing her vehicle and reached the window seat of her car, where she was seated. He then reportedly assaulted her even after she showed him her identity card. The accused rifleman then allegedly told them that he will not let them go even if they report the matter to the DGP and CM.
Taking serious note of the incident, Manipur DGP LM Khaute on Monday said necessary action would be taken against the accused jawan.
