UP: Three held with ganja worth Rs 6 lakh in Mirzapur

Three members of an inter-state gang of drug peddlers were arrested in Adalhat area of Mirzapur district on Monday. The police recovered one quintal ganja worth Rs six lakh and seized two vehicles being used in smuggling.

VARANASI: Three members of an inter-state gang of drug peddlers were arrested in Adalhat area of Mirzapur district on Monday. The police recovered one quintal ganja worth Rs six lakh and seized two vehicles being used in smuggling.
According to reports, during a checking drive the police stopped a jeep and a car near Baraipur gate and recovered 32 packets of ganja hidden in the cavities in both the vehicles.
The police seized the vehicle and booked the arrested persons including Gopi Singh, Chhedi Lal and Manoj Kumar Rajbhar under NDPS Act.
During interrogation, they revealed that they used to smuggle drugs from Odisha for supplying in Varanasi, Prayagraj and Jaunpur districts.
Four held with ganja: Mughalsarai police in Chandauli district arrested four member of a drug peddling gang including a woman with 54 kg of ganja worth Rs eight lakh.
SP Chandauli Hemant Kutiyal said that inspector Mughalsarai Shivanand Mishra, along with his team, was carrying out a checking drive near Padao crossing on Monday morning when they nabbed the four with the consignment of ganja.
The arrested peddlers were identified as Ankur Singh Patel, Ezaz Ahmad alias Sonu, Munna Sahani and Lilavati. Kutiyal said that Ankur and Ezaz are members of the notorious Babar gang of Varanasi. Several criminal cases are lodged against Ankur in Varanasi and Chandauli. Ankur is also in the list of most wanted 10 criminals of Varanasi.
