Cooch Behar Trophy: Nagaland thrash Manipur

Dimapur, Jan. 20 (EMN): Nagaland defeated Manipur by 205 runs on the third day of the Cooch Behar Trophy (2019-20) on Monday. The four-day Test between the two states began on January 18 at James Long Stadium, Kolkata.

An update from Nagaland Cricket Association (NCA) informed that Manipur were bowled out for 91 runs in 36.4 overs in their second innings.

Resuming their second innings on the previous day’s score of 45 runs with seven wickets remaining, Manipur failed to perform with their bats once again. Ulenyai (20 runs) and Bidash (15 runs) were the main contributors for the team, while Nagaland’s bowling attack was led by Vipul with five wickets, Daniel, two and Arjun one.

Nagaland took a huge lead over Manipur after their second innings, as the latter scored a paltry 103 runs (all out) in their first innings and then 91 runs in the second. Nagaland scored 214 runs in their first innings, followed by 185 runs in second.

Needing 252 runs to win with two days of play remaining, Manipur succumbed to pressure on the third day of the Test.

Ranji Trophy: Bad light plays spoilsport
The four-day Test match between Nagaland and Bihar at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima, Dimapur, was stopped by bad light on Monday.

Resuming their first innings on the previous day’s score of 115 runs (loss of two wickets), Bihar added 129 runs on Monday, second day of the Test, for loss of five wickets before bad light stopped play. It’s score was 244 at stumps.

Babul scored 95 runs, Rathour 81 and Mridul 35 for Bihar, while Nagaland’s attack was led by SS Mundhe (two wickets), and one wicket each by Nagaho, Imliwati, and Hopongkyu.
Nagaland were bowled out for 166 runs in their first innings.

CK Nayudu Trophy
The NCA has also informed that Nagaland U-23 men’s team will take on Mizoram in a league match of the CK Nayudu Trophy at Vizag from January 21 to the 24th.

Nagaland Women’s U-23 team too will be leaving for Odisha on January 22 for the plate group U-23 women’s tournament to be played from January 24 to February 13.
