If WWE Ad In Saudi Arabia Is Correct, It Could Spoil The Result Of A Major Match At The Royal Rumble

This article is more than 4 years old.

If you hate spoilers ahead of WWE events, then you might want to look away. Then again, it’s probably too late at this point.

Per Wrestle Wrap Up, local ads in Saudi Arabia are advertising an Inferno Match between Universal Champion “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt and Kane for the upcoming Super ShowDown event that is scheduled to happen in February.

The show name isn’t confirmed, but based on the image in the tweet, and because SSD has been used in Saudi Arabia before, it makes sense.

At first glance, this isn’t really a big deal, although we haven’t seen an Inferno Match since 2013 when Bray met Kane at SummerSlam. Technically, it was called a Ring of Fire match, but it’s obviously similar and Bray won that forgettable affair.

On a second glance, notice the advertisement says the match will be for the Universal title. If he is defending his title in February, that means The Fiend is set to retain at Royal Rumble when he faces Daniel Bryan in a Strap Match. That match has the potential to be one of the most entertaining on the card next to the theme bout, but if the result has been given away with this ad, it takes away some of the potential immersion and appeal.

I’ve said time and again, the internet is the best and worst thing that ever happened to mankind, and the impact it has had on professional wrestling is apparent. Few secrets can be kept because of how easily people can capture and share information. If this stands, it’s just the latest example of information sharing ruining the result of a PPV match.

There is a chance The Fiend could drop the title at the Rumble and regain it on an episode of Smackdown somehow, but that seems unlikely. We won’t know for sure until Sunday when WWE kicks off its PPV season with The Royal Rumble in Houston on Sunday.
