U.S. Implementing Israeli Policies: Rouhani

TEHRAN (Dispatches) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza on Tuesday deplored the U.S. government’s pressures against independent nations, like Iran, and said Washington is implementing the Tel Aviv regime’s policies.
In the meeting, Rouhani pointed to the U.S. government’s illegal sanctions against the Iranian nation and its pressure and conspiracies against the Venezuelan government and nation, describing the U.S. moves as "crimes against humanity”.
"There is no doubt that independent nations will resist these pressures and conspiracies and the resistant nations will definitely emerge victorious and make the U.S. regret its moves,” he added.
"The current U.S. government is acting against both sovereign nations and its own people, and today it has become the enforcer of the Zionist Regime’s policies in the world,” the president stressed.
Arreaza, for his part, offered his condolences to the Iranian people and government over the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.
He also said that independent nations will undoubtedly defend their interests in the face of the enemies’ pressures and conspiracies.
Arreaza also in a press conference at the Venezuelan embassy in Tehran deplored U.S. assassination of Commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani as a "treacherous” act, blaming Washington for instability in the region.
"The US government assassinated General Soleimani in a treacherous act,” Montserrat said in a press conference at the Venezuelan embassy in Tehran on Tuesday.
He also appreciated efforts made by General Soleimani in fighting terrorist groups.
Asked about Iran’s retaliatory missile strikes against the U.S. base in Iraq in response to the assassination of General Soleimani, Montserrat said that Iran should defend its sovereignty and international peace.
He also blasted the U.S. for plots and acts which increase instability in the region.
Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was assassinated in a U.S. drone strike on Baghdad International Airport in Iraq on January 3.
