Trump Talks US Economy & Impeachment From World Economic Forum in Switzerland

Davos, Switzerland (AP) – President Trump wrapped up his trip to Davos, Switzerland and his part in the 2020 World Economic Forum.

In comments to reporters Trump said the United States still reigns on the economic front ahead of China, which last year was projected to overtake the U.S. Trump also touted the newly signed trade deal with China, saying that he’s working on phase

As the president ticked of a number of positive economic statistics, he also took questions about his impeachment.

He says he’ll leave it to the Senate as to whether there will be witnesses called during his impeachment trial. Trump says in the run-up to the trial, the Democrats talked about the “tremendous case” they had, but “they don’t have a case.”   Trump also bragged about his  impeachment lawyers: “I think the team was really good” 

On the health front, Trump said the United States has a plan in place to contain the coronavirus outbreak, “We do have a plan and we think it is going to be handled very well. We’ve already handled it very well. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) is terrific. Very professional…”

The death toll from a new flu-like coronavirus in China rose to nine on Wednesday with 440 confirmed cases, Chinese health officials said as authorities stepped up efforts to control the outbreak.

Meantime, Trump ran into Governor Abbott as he left the forum.
