My focus is on the series in hand: Malik

LAHORE: Senior Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik on Wednesday said his focus is on the series in hand and is not thinking about the T20 World Cup.

Talking to media here at the Gaddafi Stadium, he said his previous announcement of quitting international cricket after this year’s T20 World Cup is not cast in stone and he might continue if his body permits.

He said that he always strive for the opportunity that is at the arm’s length and never think of the far off series and world Cup is far away. To a question, he said that he was in Bangladesh playing BPL and has seen a good blend. “They have a balances side with a combination of youth and experience. Their system has improved a lot,” Shoaib Malik.

Babar Azam has made himself known by cricketers all over the world, he praised. Shoaib Malik sadi that he was very dejected on his performance in the World Cup. “My performance in the World Cup has not been so good but I have tried to do well.”

He further said that Pakistan team is a combination of senior and young players and his agenda is to groom the upcoming players in the team and give the best performance for Pakistan. He further stated that he was never disappointed and always think positively.

On security, he said that everywhere they go in the world, they tell the players that the conditions in Pakistan are the best. “I am in this part of my career where I continually perform the best. I have been saying for a long time that I will retire from ODI cricket after the 2019 World Cup. After the World Twenty20, he will decided retirement from international cricket,” said Shoaib Malik.
