Wiretapping President of the Constitutional Court of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan is another act that serves as a violation of the rights of a person vested with immunity by the Constitution. This is what Tovmasyan’s attorney Amram Makinyan told reporters today.

The presses report that the Special Investigation Service is wiretapping the president of the Constitutional Court by law.

Makinyan said he had found out about this in the presses. “We’re still considering the way we have to respond. I found out about this from the media,” he said and added that if the Special Investigation Service is wiretapping the president of the Constitutional Court, this is a violation of immunity.

President of the Constitutional Court of Armenia Hrayr Tovmasyan was charged on December 27, 2019 for abuse of official powers. The decision on involving him as an accused-on-trial was rendered by the Prosecutor General of Armenia on December 26, the same day when President of Armenia Armen Sarkissian signed the law on early retirement of judges of the Constitutional Court.
