Sports Shorts: JHS hangs on to No. 1 ranking

Jamestown High School hung on to the top spot in this week's Class A boys basketball media rankings voted on by members of the North Dakota Associated Press Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association.

The Blue Jays (9-1) received two more points in the voting than Fargo Davies (10-1). Jamestown earned 13 of 19 first-place votes and 88 total points, while the Eagles garnered the other six first-place votes and 86 points.

The Jays play at Bismarck St. Mary's today (Jan. 23).

Devils Lake (9-0) jumped to the No. 1 position in the Class A girls rankings, following Bismarck Legacy's 62-54 upset over previously top-ranked Bismarck Century last Thursday. Legacy (11-0) is up to second, while the Patriots (10-1) dropped to third.

Spring coed volleyball

Jamestown Parks and Recreation spring coed volleyball teams are currently forming.

Registration forms are available at the Parks and Rec main office and at www.jamestownparksandrec.com. The per-team registration fee of $200 is due Jan. 29.
