Confused passengers found themselves right back where they started after their flight turned around after 40 minutes due to technical issues.

The KLM jet had left Amsterdam for Dublin but barely made it over the UK before the decision was made to go back.

The Boeing plane left Amsterdam at 11.59 on Tuesday and landed in The Netherlands again safely at 1.21pm.

A spokesperson for the airline said they took the decision not to continue so the plane wouldn't be stuck in Ireland.

Passengers were transferred to another jet which took off again soon after.

KLM said: "Please be informed that flight KL935 was delayed due to technical reasons."

The spokesperson went on to say that they opted to go back to The Netherlands "to prevent the aircraft getting stuck in Dublin".
