Shop Qatar 2020 brings together top local, international designers to showcase latest collections

Shop Qatar visitors are being treated to a firsthand look at the latest collections from world famous and homegrown fashion talent in a series of exquisitely choreographed runway shows at elegant venues throughout Doha. 

Now in its fourth year, Shop Qatar is attracting a record number of global designers – including those who have come to the country to launch or build their brand and tap into new markets. As part of an effort to broaden offerings for all audiences, Shop Qatar 2020 is also hosting the first-ever Kids Fashion show at Mirqab Mall.

 With world-class events at 12 malls and steep discounts of up to 70%, Shop Qatar brings the latest in haute couture, eveningwear, ready-to-wear, bridalwear and menswear to Qatar’s doorstep, reaffirming the country’s role as a launching pad for fashion trends in the Middle East. The fashion shows at various malls with dates and venues are as follows.

Designed by the World —Today at Al Hazm: With original creations from top regional designers Ahmed Talfeet, Laith Maalof, Naja Saade, Amgad Al Adab, Saeed Malass and Toufic Al Hasan, this inaugural  show features haute couture, bridal gowns, ready-to-wear eveningwear, and bespoke menswear and accessories presented by Turkish label Bariş.

 Kids Fashion — Tomorrow at Al Mirqab Mall: Shop Qatar wouldn’t be complete without something for the little ones.  The first-ever Kids Fashion Show will highlight the latest in childrenswear.  

By Nicolas Jebran —Tomorrow at Al Hazm: Brought to audiences by QNTC, renowned Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran, famous for haute couture in addition to his line of accessories, shoes and bags, will make his Qatar debut in this solo show.  

Designed by Qatar —January 25 at Al Hazm: Local design stars Waad, Yasmeen Mansoor, Sarmad, Shaden, Tamadar Al Sultan and Lady Ayesha will showcase their latest couture and pret collections along with designs from Modish, Soliel Abayas, Al Dukan, and the Black Pearl.  

Haute couture & evening wear — January 26 at Al Hazm: This show features collections from Saiid Kobeisy, Sandra Mansour, Marco & Maria, J.Mendel, Ziad Nakad, Jenny Packham and Bazzaza alongside bridalwear from 

Frida, Mae collection, Demetrios and Yolancris. 

Ready to wear show —  January 26 at Al Hazm: Collections from leading brands The Row, Avaro Figlio, Alexander Terekhov, Racheal Gilbert, Dice Kayek, Blumarine, Loriz Azzaro, Hrabal Gurong will be modeled.

Designed by China — January 29 at Al Hazm: China’s most influential fashion innovators, Grace Chen and Lan Yu, will present their unique approach to couture in the midst of Chinese New Year festivities.  

Shop Qatar is part of QNTC’s efforts to energise Qatar’s economy by putting the spotlight on its thriving retail sector. The festival’s 2019 edition had over 3,000 stores participating and sales vouchers worth QR58.4mn.

The 25-day event includes 12 participating malls: Al Mirqab Mall, AlKhor Mall, City Centre, Doha Festival City, Gulf Mall, Hyatt Plaza, Lagoona Mall, Landmark Mall, Mall of Qatar, Villaggio, & The Pearl-Qatar and Galeries Lafayette, and features over 30 activities that appeal to a wide range of residents and visitors alike. It marks the beginning of a busy winter calendar packed with a retail, culture, sporting and musical events catered to all tastes.

The festival runs until 31 January, ending with week-long Chinese New Year festivities, including a fashion show by top Chinese designers, while concerts by Indian and Pakistani singers are set to rock audiences.  

In addition to clothing and accessories, well-known names in the beauty world including Hanan Alnajadah, Dalal Al Rifai and Lady Aisha conducted master classes and workshops demonstrating the latest makeup techniques to packed audiences.
