Updated: Gulftainer business to offer additional logistics services at Port of Wilmington

GT USA (Gulftainer) has added freight services under the Momentum Logistics brand  at the Port of Wilmington. GT manages the port under a long-term lease with the State of Delaware. 

Momentum Logistics – Delaware will offer a “complete suite of supply chain management solutions,” a release stated. 

The launch of Momentum Logistics is expected to result in 25 to 30 new jobs at the Port of Wilmington.

“This is the first U.S. venture for Momentum Logistics. Momentum Logistics has established an award-winning record of success in transportation, freight forwarding, warehousing and container services in Gulftainer ports throughout the Middle East and they will now seek to mirror that success in the United States,” said Peter Richards Group CEO of Gulftainer.

Launched in 2008, Momentum Logistics now has operations spanning the Middle East, with operational headquarters located at the Sharjah Inland Container Depot (SICD).

Services  include:

  • Freight forwarding with a one-stop solution offering a diverse range of services including air freight, ocean freight, customs clearance and land transport;
  • Warehousing that  capitalizes on the Port of Wilmington’s six refrigerated, state-of-the-art cold storage warehouses, 800,000 square feet of dockside cold storage in six warehouses,  and two state-of-the-art dry cargo warehouses totaling 250,000 square feet.
  • Less than a container load (L.C.L. ) facilities.
  • Container repair through Gulf Container Repair (GCR), which operates one the largest container sales and trading companies in the Middle East and specializes in container conversions and modifications.
 Momentum Logistics has won international safety awards.   In 2017, it won the CNME Achievement Award for Logistics and the Logistics Middle East Awards for “The Best Technology Implementation.”
