16-year-old cooked up ‘rape’ story: Telangana cops

HYDERABAD: A 16-year-old girl lodged a police complaint alleging that three men raped her at an isolated area in Ameenpur on Thursday in collusion with another man. Based on the details given by the girl, police launched a manhunt to nab the offenders. Later in the day, Sangareddy police, however, said the claim was false and the girl cooked up the story.
After investigation, Sangareddy SP Chandrasekhar Reddy said, “The rape claim has been proved to be false.The girl went out with her boyfriend and cooked up the rape story.” Around 4pm, the girl dialled 100 to inform that she was sexually assaulted by the men. A police team rushed to the spot and located the girl. “We collected details of the crime from the girl in the presence of her family. Her mother said she left home around 9.30am after an argument over stealing money,” Ameenpur inspector Prabhakar said.
The girl’s family came to Hyderabad a fortnight ago from AP, and her father does a small-time job. The victim told police that after leaving the house she began loitering on the roads nearby, and unknown persons came in a car and forced her into the vehicle.
“The girl said that first a biker approached her and misbehaved with her. When she slapped him, the biker went away and returned soon saying he has video clipping of her taking bath at home. The biker then asked the girl to accompany him and soon three people in a car joined them. The girl alleged that they took her to an isolated place in Ameenpur and raped her behind the bushes. She also said that after the assault, the accused sat at a distance from her and watched her till the evening. After they left the place, she called police from her cell phone,” the inspector said.
Police also found out that the girl participated in municipality elections campaign in the past few days in Ameenpur. “Doctors said she did not sustain any injuries,” the inspector added.
