Datchet Cricket Club’s Oli Smithson flew to South America last week after being selected to play for Marylebone Cricket Club's (MCC) tour of Argentina.
Smithson, who enjoyed playing against Horspath last season, taking 3-40 and 3-50 in the side’s victories over them last season, will link up with his MCC teammates this week.
A bit of an all-rounder Smithson is also handy with the bat and scored 17 in Datchet’s win over Tring last season.
The aim of the tour is to develop the game in areas of the world where cricket is less popular, and several tours have taken place in South America in recent seasons.
The tour got underway last week with a T20 match against Argentina at the Belgrano Athletic Club on Saturday and finishes this Saturday.
The captain on this tour is Hassan Khan, who plays for Finchley Cricket Club in the Middlesex County League.
