HYDERABAD: The fate of over 11,000 candidates in the municipal elections will be known when counting of votes will be taken up at 8 am on Saturday.
The first results are likely to be out by 10am. All the results are set to be released by the afternoon.
Polling for 120 municipalities and nine municipal corporations was conducted on January 22 amid sporadic incidents of violence.

Of the total 2,727 wards in municipalities, election in 80 wards was unanimous and polls were held in the rest 2,647 wards. In nine municipal corporations, there were 325 wards and election in one ward was unanimous.
Telangana State Election Commission (TSEC) chief V Nagi Reddy on Friday said that guidelines had been issued to the election authorities on counting. “Election of mayors and municipal chairpersons will be held on January 27. Since Karimnagar municipal corporation polling was held on January 24, mayoral election will be taken up on January 29,” Nagi Reddy said at a press conference here.
He said political parties will have to submit form-A and form-B by 11 am on January 26 and 10 am on January 27. “Parties can issue whip during thee mayoral election. If the mayoral candidates get equal votes, the winner will be elected through a draw of lottery,” Nagi Reddy said. He said the model code of conduct for the election of mayor and chairpersons would be in force till January 27.
Ex-officio members like MPs, MLAs and MLCs could also vote in the indirect polls in their respective constituencies. “If there is more than one civic body in their constituency, the MLAs will have to give an option along with MPs and MLCs by January 25 evening,” director of municipal administration TK Sridevi said.
