Thousands of people have been organising a sit-in at these locations to protest against CAA and NRC. They have been joined by students, intellectuals and members of the civil society. While the sit-in at Park Circus started on January 7, the one at SN Banerjee was kicked off on January 21.
“We are planning a series of programmes on the Republic Day to reiterate the rights and privileges granted to us by our Constitution. It is a befitting occasion since the Constitution came into effect on this day in 1950,” said Arshad Parvez Khan, one of the organisers of the sit-in at Nawab Ali Park in Ekbalpore.
The day will commence with National Anthem and the hoisting of the National Flag. Children have been invited in big numbers to participate.
