Tenali tense after YSRC workers throw eggs at ex-MLA Alapati
Vijayawada: Tension prevailed at Tenali town in Guntur district on Saturday after YSRC workers hurled eggs and tomatoes at former MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad and others, who were on a relay fast in support of Amaravati as state capital.
Two youths identified as Chunduru Gopi and Vadeswarapu Anish allegedly set on fire the tent of pro-Amaravati protesters.

However, a major mishap was averted as the alert protesters doused the fire in time even as part of the tent was burnt.
Tenali deputy superintendent of police Srilakshmi told TOI the police will register cases against the attackers after receiving a complaint.
She said once normalcy is restored in the town, police will initiate action against the persons involved.
People, who are in support of Amaravati, were staging protests ever since the capital shift announcement was made by the chief minister in the state assembly. Protesters under the banner of Amaravati Parirakshana Joint Action Committee have been sitting on fast at the protest venue near Tenali municipal office.
