Criminal carrying Rs 25,000 reward arrested in Siwan

Notorious criminals Chandan Singh and Randhir Singh were arrested from the outskirts of Ainee village under Darauli police station in Siwan district on Saturday. Chandan carried a reward of Rs25,000 on his head. A carbine of .30 bore along with a country-made pistol and seven live cartridges were recovered from their possession.

PATNA: Notorious criminals Chandan Singh and Randhir Singh were arrested from the outskirts of Ainee village under Darauli police station in Siwan district on Saturday. Chandan carried a reward of Rs25,000 on his head. A carbine of .30 bore along with a country-made pistol and seven live cartridges were recovered from their possession.
A Special Task Force (STF) team conducted the operation with Siwan police.
STF sources said the criminals first opened fire but surrendered after the police returned the fire. Chandan belongs to Ainee while Randhir is from Maghari under Basantpur police station in Siwan. Chandan was also accused in a dacoity case lodged in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh.
Chandan is an accused in at least ten criminal cases, includes burning his wife alive and killing a trader for extortion. “Chandan killed his wife hardly a year after their marriage in 2008,” sources said.
They said Chandan shot dead a millionaire trader of Siwan, Prem Gupta, under Mairwan police station area in Siwan for extortion on August 25, 2015. “On May 12 last year, he shot at another trader under Mairwan police station area for refusing to pay him extortion money,” sources said.
Police sources said Chandan and his associates had looted Rs 12 lakh from a petrol pump under Bankatta police station area in Deoria district of UP on March 6 last year. “His property at Ainee was attached three months back after the court had declared him an absconder. Later, the state home department announced a cash reward of Rs25000 on him,” sources said.
They said Chandan was evading arrest in connection with a dacoity case lodged with Darauli police station and another case with Mairwan police station.
