HYDERABAD: Referring to a report in this publication that highlighted the plight of yet another Hyderabad lake that was dying on account of official negligence, the bench of Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan and Justice A Abhishek Reddy in the Telangana high court on Monday sought an annual plan from Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner Lokesh Kumar on how to deal with the dying lakes, the mushrooming of illegal structures, bad condition of roads and the plight of the once glorious Musi river.

The commissioner told the bench that there are 185 lakes in Hyderabad and they had brought in lake protection force to protect them.
The bench sought to know from Lokesh as to why GHMC is facing so many cases from the public.
The pathetic condition of our lakes, roads, garbage disposal, illegal structures would bring a bad name to our Hyderabad city, the CJ said. Explain to us how you are planning to revive these lakes and we will supervise all the works on a regular basis, the CJ said.
