HMD Global is continuing its relentless release of Nokia-branded smartphones with the Nokia 2.3, announced late last year in Cairo. Initially a MENA (Middle East and North Africa) exclusive, the phone is now available in the UK at £99.99.
You can purchase the Nokia 2.3 from Amazon, and it should soon be making its way also to Argos, Very and AO.
At the end of the decade, it shows us how far smartphones have come. For that little, you get dual cameras with portrait mode, a 6.2in HD display, two-day quoted battery life and the latest Android 10 operating system.
It’s even an Android One device, so you’re guaranteed two years of OS updates and three years of security updates. If that’s not value for money when it comes to smartphones, we don’t know what is.
Less impressive is the microUSB port, a technology that really should be making way for USB-C. Possibly a cost cutting measure considering the market for the phones, but it might put some people off.
You can probably expect the phone to run pretty slow thanks to the bare minimum specs. It has a MediaTek Helio A22 chipset paired with 32GB storage and 2GB RAM. On the flip side, there’s an FM radio and a headphone jack so it depends on your needs.
Despite the flaws the Nokia 2.3 is a good-looking, affordable device. It’s available in Cyan Green, Sand and Charcoal.
