LAHORE: Revival of trade and economic activities and sports are equally important for the country; therefore, a the government should make a plan in consultation with stakeholders so that sports events do not affect trade activities, a statement said on Monday.
These views were expressed by traders of various markets, while speaking at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The revival of sports activities in Pakistan is a good omen, as it would definitely enlighten the soft image of the country, but trade and economic activities have equal importance, they said.
LCCI Vice President Mian Zahid Jawaid Ahmad said that during the recent cricket matches, Liberty and other markets and restaurants adjacent to the Gaddafi Stadium remained closed on the orders of the authorities, which resulted in significant loss of business activities, especially for the daily wage earners.
