LAHORE: Bangladesh captain Mahmoodullah Riyad felt that his young team failed to play to its potential and skills and hope to make an impression when they return back to play the Test series.

In a press conference here at the Gaddafi Stadium, Mahmoodullah said that he has always enjoyed his stay in Pakistan. “There hospitality has always been very good. Though I am not satisfied with the performance of the team but still believes they did well against a number one team which has quality players backed the experience of Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez. “I’ve been here before, Lahore has been a great city and the hospitality, security arrangements were up to the mark. Hopefully, we will return stronger in the Test match,” Mahmudullah said. Mahmiddulah is not happy with his own performance in the series as a captain and thinks that they should give some time to these young players at the international stage.

Meanwhile, national team head coach and chief selector Misbahul Haq said on Monday they were not in a position to risk losing another series after back to back defeats in the format. Talking to media at the end of the Pakistan and Bangladesh series, Misbah said that the veteran cricketers were called to strengthen the team.

The Number 1 ranking, which Pakistan earned in January 2018, was under threat after the team lost eight of its nine T20s in 2019, but the recall of veteran batsmen Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez strengthened the batting line-up. Malik scored an unbeaten 58 in the first match, while Hafeez remained not out on 67 in the second game in two easy run-chases.
