HYDERABAD: TRS continued its winning streak by romping home to victory in Karimnagar municipal corporation polls by a big margin. The result came as a shocker to Congress which did not win even a single division in the 60-member corporation. TRS won 34 divisions, BJP 12, MIM six, Forward Bloc three and independents won from five divisions.
For BJP MP from Karimnagar Bandi Sanjay, the polls were prestigious to demonstrate that Karimnagar was a stronghold.
However, TRS dealt a blow by winning a substantial number of divisions as counting was taken up on Monday. The mayoral post will be bagged by TRS because of the numbers it has.
That Congress has drawn a blank in the polls in Karimnagar is a reflection as to where the party stands now. Not long ago, it was wielding control over the constituency with the likes of M Satyanarayana Rao, J Chokka Rao and Ponnam Prabhakar all winners.
